Two Electronics and Informatics Education (EIE) Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) Dual Degree students, Muhammad Irfan Luthfi and Rio Nurtantyana had successfully complete their studies at the Graduate Institute of Network Learning Technology National Central University (GINLT - NCU), Taiwan. This success was marked by the oral defense through Skype video conferencing involving advisors from GINLT - NCU and from the EIE UNY on Monday (24/7) at 14.00 Taiwan time or 13.00 WIB. The two students were examined directly by the committee prepared by GINLT - NCU, namely Prof. Yi-Zhen Wang from the Department of Information Management at National Changhua Normal University, Taiwan, Prof. Hong-ren Chen from the Department of English National Taichung University of Education, Taiwan, and Prof. Wu-Yuin Hwang from GINLT - NCU. While from Indonesia, two supervisors from each student also participated in the oral defense, namely Dr. Ratna Wardani and Suprapto, Ph.D. this oral defense was also attended by the director of UNY Graduate School Prof. Dr. Marsigit, M.A. and assistant director of UNY Graduate School Dr. Sugito, MA. and several UNY Graduate School officials and staff and prospective second batch dual degree student.

In the two-hour oral defense, the two students presented their research results front of the committee. Each student gets one hour to make a presentation, and interview with with the committee, and defend the results of their research in front of the examining team. Student Muhammad Irfan Luthfi presented the results of his research entitled "Authentic U-Fraction in Authentic Learning Environments" while student Rio Nurtantyana presented the results of his research entitled "Application of the Authentic-UG using Augmented Reality to Support Geometry Learning in Authentic Learning Design". The research conducted by the two PTEI students was conducted from September 2018 to May 2019. All research activities were carried out in Taiwan starting from planning, conducting research, processing research data results, to writing research reports in the form of a thesis.

After each student had successfully defended their thesis, the entire committee congratulated each student. One of the committee as well as the supervisor of the two students at GINLT - NCU, Prof. Hwang said that the two students were extraordinary students, because in less than ten months they were able to performed the whole steps of the study process. Even the two students were also able to develop a good system to support their studies. Therefore, Prof. Hwang hopes that the dual degree cooperation between GINLT - NCU and the EIE UNY will be better in the future.
