Nisa Dwi Septiyanti, EIE Dual Degree Student Performs Oral Defense

One of the EIE Dual Degree students, Nisa Dwi Septiyanti has successfully completed her studies at the Graduate Institute of Network Learning Technology National Central University (GINLT - NCU), Taiwan. This success was marked by the oral defense which was held through the Zoom video conference involving committee from GINLT - NCU and from the EIE on Tuesday, June 30, 2020 at 14.00 Taiwan time or 13.00 WIB. These students were examined directly by a committee prepared by GINLT - NCU, namely Prof. Ying-Tien WU and Prof. Hui-Chun Hung. Meanwhile from Indonesia, Dr. Masduki Zakaria and Prof. Herman Dwi Surjono, Ph.D also examined the students. The oral defense was also attended by the first assistant director of UNY Graduate School Dr. Sugito, M.A., and second assistant director Dr. Widyastuti Purbani, M.A and also several officials and staff.

Oral Defense is conducted for one hour, with a duration of 20 minutes for presentation and 40 minutes for the interview session. The student presented the results of his research entitled "The Effectiveness of Computational Thinking Through Game-Based Learning Activity in Indonesian Primary School Students". In her research, these students made two types of games, namely table game (unplugged) and robot game (plugged). Game design and activity design were conducted in Taiwan with her advisor, Prof. Ju-Ling Shih, then the experiment was performed in two elementary schools in Indonesia, namely SD Muhammadiyah Sagan located in Yogyakarta and MI Al-Anwar located in Jepara. The duration of the experiment in each school was 3 days.

After the student successfully defended his thesis, the entire team of gave congratulations on her graduation. One of the committee member, Prof. Ying-Tien WU, said that the research was very interesting and complex, Prof. Ying-Tien WU appreciated the students' hard  At the end of the oral defense, Prof. Ying-Tien WU suggested that this research be continued by considering the level of difficulty in the game and preparing learning sheets to assess student activities in the aspect of computational thinking.(MIL)
