Following her colleague, Nisa Dwi Septiyanti, two other EIE UNY students had their Oral Defense successfully on Wednesday, July 8, 2020, through the Zoom Meeting platform. The two students are Irma Nuur Rochmah and Muhammad Trio Maulana Putra. Oral Defense involved 3 examiners from the National Central University (NCU) and 2 examiners from Yogyakarta State University (UNY), namely Prof. Wu-Yuin Hwang (NCU), Prof. Rustam Shadiev (Nanjing University, China), Prof. Lai (NCKU Taiwan), Dr. Priyanto (UNY), and Dr. Ratna (UNY).

In her oral defense, Irma Nuur Rochmah reported the results of her research using smartphones to learn mathematics, especially the topic of fractions with the title "Investigate Behaviors and Strategies of Fraction Problem Solving for Elementary School Students in Authentic Contexts and its Influences on Learning Achievements" with Prof Advisor. . Wu-Yuin Hwang (National Central University) and Co-Advisor Dr. Priyanto (Yogyakarta State University). From this research, it is expected that students can learn actively using authentic learning so that it can improve learning achievement. In addition, students are also expected to develop problem solving skills on fraction questions both in the form of questions and in everyday life. When being interviewed about how to study in Taiwan, Irma said that “Thank God I got this opportunity. I got a lot of experience here. I felt that while studying here I fought my fear a lot. Meanwhile, Muhammad Trio Maulana Putra at the time of oral defense presented the results of his research entitled "Facilitating Geometry Learning of Elementary School Students with 3D-UG APP in Authentic Contexts - Volume and Surface Area Learning" with Prof. Wu-Yuin Hwang (National Central University) and Co-Advisor Dr. Ratna (UNY). Similar to research conducted by his colleague, Irma, the media he developed also encouraged elementary school students to learn actively by utilizing the surrounding environment (authentic learning) with a smartphone device. The research of these two students is certainly very much in line with the current policies of the Ministry of Education and Culture, Nadiem Makarim, who is online learning in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19. In fact, the research conducted by the two students was also carried out using this setting. Elementary school students who became participants used the media developed by both students from home within a certain period of time. Students are encouraged to learn mathematics, especially the topic of fractions and geometry by utilizing the environment around their house. Through the method used, it is hoped that students can easily connect the theories they have received with everyday life, making it easier for students to solve the problems they encounter, especially in fractions and geometry.
